Confined spaces can be hazardous environments that pose a risk of injury or death to workers. Hazards include, but not limited to, lack of oxygen, toxic gases, and engulfment.  By learning about confined space safety, workers can reduce their risk of injury or death in a confined space, and employers can protect their workers and comply with safety regulations. 

A typical confined space training course covers a wide range of topics, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and emergency procedures. Participants will learn about the different types of confined spaces, and how to recognize and avoid hazards such as lack of oxygen, toxic gases, and engulfment.  They will also learn about the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators and gas monitors, and how to properly use, inspect and maintain them. In addition, the course will also provide information on emergency procedures, including rescue planning, and also teaches how to properly use emergency equipment such as evacuation devices, and how to conduct a rescue in case of an emergency. They will also learn about the legal requirements and regulations regarding working in confined spaces.
